BBD Delay
The BBD Delay (Bucket Brigade Device) is inspired by vintage analog delays (like Memory Man / DM-2).
Main features:
- Repetitions warm and dark
- Slight signal degradation
- Natural analog modulation
- Possibility to add noise (hiss)
It's perfect for: Vintage Blues / Warm Ambient rock
SOUND CHARACTER
- Sound soft and “dirty”
- Highs attenuated with each repeat
- Light natural modulation
- Analogue feeling
More feedback = more degradation
Control Parameters
Sync the delay to the tempo:
- Y → use musical values (1/4, 1/8, dotted etc.)
- N → use milliseconds
Delay time:
- 80–150 ms → slapback
- 300–500 ms → rhythmic
- 600+ ms → ambient
In Sync ON → musical values
Number of repetitions:
- Low → few repetitions
- High → many repetitions
Above 70% → vintage self-oscillation
Effect Quantity:
- 0–20% → light
- 25–40% → standard
- 50%+ → dominant
Delay input level:
- Low → clean
- High → more analog saturation
Increases the grit of the delay
Modulation speed:
- 0.2–0.5 Hz → slow
- 1–2 Hz → noticeable
Modulation intensity:
- Low → slight movement
- High → “wow/flutter” effect
Simulate analog instability
Adds analog noise:
- Y → more vintage/realistic
- N → cleaner
For authenticity only
Delay queue management:
- Y → continues after bypass
- N → immediate stop
Pro Tips
- Want vintage → turn up Input Gain + LFO Depth
- Want clean → lower Input Gain
- Want ambient → turn up Feedback + Mix
- You want slapback → short delay + low feedback
Sweet spot analog:
- Delay: 400 ms
- Feedback: 35%
- Mix: 30%
- Input Gain: 55%
- LFO Depth: 20%
Perfect analog sound
