Headrush Dynamics & EQ
Ten Freq EQ
Inspired by MXR® M108 Ten Band EQ
It is a 10-band fixed graphic equalizer, studio/live standard, more detailed than 5-band and faster than parametric
GENERAL FUNCTION
Precise control of the audio spectrum.
Each band works on a specific frequency.
Ideal for:
- live FOH
- fast mastering
- feedback correction
Control Parameters
30 HzGain dB
- Very deep sub-bass
Effect:
- boost → vibration / sub
- cut → eliminate rumble
It often gets cut
60 HzGain dB
- Sub + low bass
Effect:
- boost → depth
- cut → less boom
125 HzGain dB
- Bass / body
Effect:
- boost → fullness
- cut → cleaning
250 HzGain dB
- Low-mid
Effect:
- boost → heat
- cut → minus “mud”
Critical area
500 HzGain dB
- Boxiness
Effect:
- boost → closed sound
- cut → more opening
1 kHzGain dB
- Central high schools
Effect:
- boost → presence
- cut → less nasal
2 kHzGain dB
- Attack / intelligibility
Effect:
- boost → definition
- cut → softer
4 kHzGain dB
- High presence
Effect:
- boost → clarity
- cut → less aggressive
8 kHzGain dB
- Brilliance
Effect:
- boost → air
- cut → less harsh
16 kHzGain dB
- Air / ultra-high
Effect:
- boost → opening
- cut → warmer sound
GaindB
- Global EQ volume
Compensates the level after EQ
Pro Tips
- fixed bands → less precise than parametric EQ
- excessive boosts → artificial sound
- too many changes → loss of naturalness
- small interventions are better (±2–4 dB)
Quick method:
- low-mid size (250 Hz)
- add presence (2–4 kHz)
- adjust high (8–16 kHz)
Quick Reference
- 30 Hz: sub
- 60 Hz: depth
- 125 Hz: body
- 250 Hz: mud
- 500 Hz: boxiness
- 1 kHz: mediums
- 2 kHz: attack
- 4 kHz: presence
- 8 kHz: brilliance
- 16 kHz: air
- Gain: output volume
