Square-Phase
Headrush Phaser & Flanger

Square-Phase

Inspired by MXR® Phase 90

The Square-Phase is a non-traditional phaser that uses:

  • LFO a square wave
  • Movement not fluid but in steps
  • More rhythmic effect than classic phasers

Main features:

  • “Digital” Phaser
  • Clear movement
  • Ideal for rhythmic patterns

Different from the classic phaser (sine/triangular)

SOUND CHARACTER

  • More cut and rhythmic
  • “On/Off” movement
  • Less fluid
  • More obvious

Almost between phaser and tremolo

Control Parameters

SyncY/N

Sync Rate to BPM:

  • Y → follows the tempo
  • N → free control

Very useful for this effect

RateHz / Picklist

Movement speed:

  • 0.2–0.5 Hz → slow and pronounced
  • 0.5–1 Hz → rhythmic
  • 1.5+ Hz → very fast / almost tremolo

Here it becomes “rhythmic”

Pro Tips

  • Want rhythm → use Sync
  • Want groove → medium rate
  • Want effect → high rate
  • You want ambient → slow rate
