Octaves Up

Inspired by HeadRush® Original

Variant of the octaver dedicated only to higher octaves designed for:

  • add shine
  • create shimmer/organ effect
  • bring out the sound in the mix

GENERAL FUNCTION

  • Duplicates the original signal
  • Generate 1 or 2 octaves higher
  • Mixes them with the dry signal

Result:

  • "higher", open and defined sound
  • synth / 12-string / organ effect

Control Parameters

Octave 1%
  • Range: 0 – 100%
  • First octave level above (+12 semitones)

Effect:

  • 0–30% → light shimmer
  • 40–70% → evident presence
  • 80–100% → dominant sound

Adds shine

Octave 2%
  • Range: 0 – 100%
  • Second octave level above (+24 semitones)

Effect:

  • low → fine detail
  • medium → organ effect
  • high → synth / artificial sound

Much more "ethereal" than the first octave

Mix%
  • Range: 0 – 100%
  • Blend between original signal and octaves

Behavior

  • 0%: dry
  • 30–50%: natural
  • 60–80%: noticeable
  • 100%: octaves only

Pro Tips

  • Octave 2 high → can become artificial
  • complex chords → less precise tracking
  • High mix → loss of naturalness

Best used with clean or slightly crunchy sounds.

Perfect combination:

  • Octave 1 medium
  • Octave 2 lightweight
  • Moderate mix

Add:

  • reverb + delay → total shimmer

Quick Reference

  • Octave 1 (%): octave above
  • Octave 2 (%): second octave above
  • Mix (%): blend
