Sustain

Inspired by HeadRush® Original

Effect designed to extend and stabilize sustain combines:

  • advanced compression
  • signal maintenance
  • dynamic control

GENERAL FUNCTION

Maintains note level over time.

Reduces natural decay.

It can simulate:

  • infinite sustain
  • “smooth” compression
  • light pad effect

Control Parameters

Mix%
  • Range: 0 – 100%
  • Blend between original signal and processed signal

Behavior

  • 0%: dry
  • 40–60%: natural
  • 70–100%: Dominant sustain

Louder = more perceived sustain

Filters
  • Range: time in seconds
  • Control dynamic filtering over time

Effect:

  • low → fast response
  • high → slow smoothing

It is used for:

  • avoid artifacts
  • make the sustain more natural
Attackms

Sustain activation time

Behavior

  • bass: immediate sustain
  • medium: natural
  • high: soft entry

It influences the feeling

Releases

Sustain decay time

Behavior

  • low: quick stop
  • medium: natural
  • high: long sustain

Check how long the sound lasts

Pro Tips

  • High mix → less natural dynamics
  • Low filter → more artifacts
  • Attack high → attack loss
  • Release high → risk of dough

Ideal setup:

  • Medium mix
  • Medium attack
  • Medium release

Trick:

  • use sustain before delay/reverb

Quick Reference

  • Mix (%): blend
  • Filter(s): smoothing
  • Attack (ms): activation
  • Release(s): duration
