Headrush Volume & Dynamics
Hold
Inspired by Electro-Harmonix® Freeze
Infinite freeze/sustain type effect captures the signal and keeps it over time
GENERAL FUNCTION
- “Freeze” the incoming audio
- It keeps it constant as you continue to play
Result:
- continuous pads
- drones
- ambient layering
Control Parameters
Mix%
- Range: 0 – 100%
- Blend between frozen signal and live signal
Behavior
- 0%: Live signal only
- 40–60%: ambient layer
- 70–100%: freeze only
Main parameter for balancing
LeveldB
- Typical range: −12 → +12 dB
- Signal volume frozen
Function:
- controls how much the freeze emerges
Attack
Freeze entry time
- 200 ms → fast
- 400 ms → natural
- 800 ms → slow / ambient
Effect:
- low → immediate attack
- high → soft fade-in
Release
Freeze exit time
- 0 ms → immediate stop
- 400 ms → short
- 1 sec → natural
- 3.2 sec → long / ambient
Effect:
- low → clean cut
- high → fade
Pro Tips
- Mix high → you lose original signal
- Long release → risk of “dough”
- Attack long → loss of attack
Works best with:
- simple chords
- long notes
Technique:
- activates Hold on a chord
- let it play
- plays above
Perfect ambient layering
Quick Reference
