Hold

Inspired by Electro-Harmonix® Freeze

Infinite freeze/sustain type effect captures the signal and keeps it over time

GENERAL FUNCTION

  • “Freeze” the incoming audio
  • It keeps it constant as you continue to play

Result:

  • continuous pads
  • drones
  • ambient layering

Control Parameters

Mix%
  • Range: 0 – 100%
  • Blend between frozen signal and live signal

Behavior

  • 0%: Live signal only
  • 40–60%: ambient layer
  • 70–100%: freeze only

Main parameter for balancing

LeveldB
  • Typical range: −12 → +12 dB
  • Signal volume frozen

Function:

  • controls how much the freeze emerges
Attack

Freeze entry time

  • 200 ms → fast
  • 400 ms → natural
  • 800 ms → slow / ambient

Effect:

  • low → immediate attack
  • high → soft fade-in
Release

Freeze exit time

  • 0 ms → immediate stop
  • 400 ms → short
  • 1 sec → natural
  • 3.2 sec → long / ambient

Effect:

  • low → clean cut
  • high → fade

Pro Tips

  • Mix high → you lose original signal
  • Long release → risk of “dough”
  • Attack long → loss of attack

Works best with:

  • simple chords
  • long notes

Technique:

  • activates Hold on a chord
  • let it play
  • plays above

Perfect ambient layering

Quick Reference

  • Mix (%): blend
  • Level (dB): volume freeze
  • Attack: entrance
  • Releases: exit
