Blackline810
Inspired by Ampeg® 8x10
Typical interpretation:
- Blackline → cabinet style Ampeg / classic bass cab (vintage black line)
- 810 → checkout 8x10” (eight 10” speakers)
Sound character
This is an iconic cabinet for bass, but also very interesting for guitar:
- low deep but controlled
- very present mids (growl)
- fast attack
- high beveled
Typical for:
- rock/funk/slap bass
- stoner / doom guitar
- clean, full and full-bodied
- “vintage American” sounds
Recommended Parameters
Gain (dB)
IR level
8x10 has a lot of energy → pay attention to the gain
Examples:
- Bass: -6 dB
- Clean guitar: -5 dB
- Doom: -7 / -9 dB
Rule: avoid excessive compression on the bass
HiCut (Hz)
Cuts high frequencies
The 810 is already dark → don't overdo it
Realistic range:
- 4kHz → 7kHz
Examples:
- Bass: 4.5–5 kHz
- Clean: 5.5–6 kHz
- Doom: 6–7 kHz
Rule: too low = “covered” sound too high = you lose vintage character
LoCut (Hz)
Cuts low frequencies
CRITICAL parameter on 8x10
Realistic range:
- 60Hz → 120Hz
Examples:
- Bass: 60–70 Hz
- Clean guitar: 80–90 Hz
- Doom: 100–110 Hz
Rule: Control the “boom” without losing body
Mix (%)
Blend IR / direct signal
Standard:
- 100%
Creative:
- 70–90% for hybrid sounds
Pro Tips
Great starting point:
- Gain: -6 dB
- HiCut: 5.5–6 kHz
- LoCut: 80–90 Hz
- Mixes: 100%
If the sound is:
- too “boomy” → raise LoCut
- too “closed” → raise HiCut
- poorly defined → lower Gain
The Blackline810 works great:
in parallel with a 4x12 to add “weight” underneath for realistic vintage sounds
