Fawn212
Headrush Impulse Responses

Fawn212

Inspired by Vox® 2x12

Typical interpretation:

  • Fawn → cabinet style Vox AC30 “fawn” (vintage cream/brown color)
  • 212 → checkout 2x12”

Sound character

This IR is very recognizable:

  • brilliant mid-highs
  • Typical Vox chime
  • controlled bass
  • very dynamic response

Perfect for:

  • clean brilliant
  • edge of breakup
  • indie / brit rock
  • pop/funk
  • ambient

Recommended Parameters

Gain (dB)

Controls the IR volume

IR Vox-style → very dynamic → do not compress too much

Examples:

  • Clean: -4 dB
  • Light crunch: -5 dB
  • Drive: -6 / -7 dB

Rule: Leave headroom to maintain the chime

HiCut (Hz)

Cuts high frequencies

Fawn212 is brilliant → CRITICAL parameter

Realistic range:

  • 5 kHz → 9 kHz

Examples:

  • Clean vintage: 5.5 kHz
  • Indie rock: 6.5–7 kHz
  • Modern pop: 7–8 kHz

Rule: too high = sharp sound too low = you lose the “Vox chime”

LoCut (Hz)

Cuts low frequencies

bass already controlled → don't overdo it

Realistic range:

  • 70Hz → 120Hz

Examples:

  • Clean: 80 Hz
  • Funk: 90 Hz
  • Rock: 100–110 Hz

Adjust: Helps keep the sound defined in the mix

Mix (%)

Blend IR / dry

Standard:

  • 100%

Creative:

  • 80–90% for ambient sounds

Pro Tips

Great starting point:

  • Gain: -5 dB
  • HiCut: 6.5 kHz
  • LoCut: 90 Hz
  • Mixes: 100%

If the sound is:

  • too “sharp” → lower HiCut
  • too “flat” → raise HiCut slightly
  • little present → lowers LoCut
  • not very dynamic → lower Gain

Fawn212 works great:

with Vox / Matchless amp with delay and reverbs in stereo (two different IRs)
