Headrush Impulse Responses

Jr112

Inspired by Fender® 1x12

Typical interpretation:

  • Jr → reference to Fender Blues Junior (famous tube combo)
  • 112 → checkout 1x12”

Sound character

This IR is very “amp-like” and natural:

  • warm and present mids
  • high soft (not aggressive)
  • controlled bass
  • dynamic response

Perfect for:

  • blues
  • clean / crunch
  • country
  • light rock
  • expressive leads

Recommended Parameters

Gain (dB)

Controls the IR level

Very natural IR → it's no use lower too much

Examples:

  • Clean: -3 dB
  • Blues: -4 dB
  • Crunches: -5 / -6 dB

Rule: Maintain dynamics and touch response

HiCut (Hz)

Cuts high frequencies

Jr112 has soft highs → don't overdo it

Realistic range:

  • 5 kHz → 8 kHz

Examples:

  • Clean: 6 kHz
  • Blues: 6.5 kHz
  • Crunches: 7 kHz

Rule: too low = dull sound too high = you lose naturalness

LoCut (Hz)

Cuts low frequencies

bass already checked → moderate use

Realistic range:

  • 70Hz → 110Hz

Examples:

  • Clean: 80 Hz
  • Blues: 90 Hz
  • Crunches: 100 Hz

Rule: maintains clarity without taking away body

Mix (%)

Blend IR / dry

Standard:

  • 100%

Creative:

  • 80–90% for ambient sounds

Pro Tips

Great starting point:

  • Gain: -4 dB
  • HiCut: 6.5 kHz
  • LoCut: 90 Hz
  • Mixes: 100%

If the sound is:

  • too dark → raise HiCut
  • too thin → lower LoCut
  • not very dynamic → lower Gain
  • too “flat” → increases HiCut slightly

Jr112 works great:

with Fender-style amp for direct recording with overdrive pedals as a neutral base for effects
