Headrush Impulse Responses
Mkbass212
Inspired by MarkBass® 2x12 (Bass Cab)
Typical interpretation:
- MK Bass → cabinet style Markbass (modern bass cab)
- 212 → checkout 2x12”
Sound character
This IR is modern and very versatile:
- deep but controlled bass
- clear and defined mids
- higher than the vintage cabs
- fast and “hi-fi” response
Perfect for:
- modern bass (slap, funk, pop)
- very defined clean
- modern / fusion guitar
- detailed ambient
Recommended Parameters
Gain (dB)
Controls the IR level
Modern IR → more “hi-fi” → pay attention to the level
Examples:
- Bass: -5 dB
- Clean guitar: -4 dB
- Fusion: -5 / -6 dB
Rule: avoid saturation on the lows and highs
HiCut (Hz)
Cuts high frequencies
MKBass212 has very high → fundamental parameter
Realistic range:
- 5kHz → 10kHz
Examples:
- Slap bass: 7–9 kHz
- Clean: 6–7 kHz
- Fusion: 6.5–8 kHz
Rule: too high = “artificial hi-fi” sound, too low = you lose definition
LoCut (Hz)
Cuts low frequencies
bass already checked → moderate use
Realistic range:
- 60Hz → 120Hz
Examples:
- Bass: 60–80 Hz
- Clean guitar: 80–90 Hz
- Fusion: 90–100 Hz
Rule: Maintains clarity without losing punch
Mix (%)
Blend IR / direct signal
Standard:
- 100%
Creative:
- 70–90% for parallel sounds
Pro Tips
Great starting point:
- Gain: -5 dB
- HiCut: 7 kHz
- LoCut: 80–90 Hz
- Mixes: 100%
If the sound is:
- too “hi-fi” → lower HiCut
- too “flat” → raise HiCut slightly
- too “boomy” → raise LoCut
- poorly defined → lower Gain
MKBass212 works great:
for modern direct recording for slap/funk bass for clean hi-fi guitar in stereo with more vintage IR
