Tangerine412
Inspired by Orange® 4x12
Interpretation:
- Tangerines → cabinet style Orange (British)
- 412 → checkout 4x12”
- (without OB) → closed back
Sound character
Compared to the OB version:
- more bass tight and controlled
- very present mids (typical Orange)
- tall, soft but solid
- more compression and punch
Result: more aggressive, compact and live sound
Perfect for:
- modern rock
- hard rock
- stoners
- doom
- heavy riffs
Recommended Parameters
Gain (dB)
IR level
Closed back = more natural compression
Examples:
- Clean: -4 dB
- Rock: -6 dB
- High gain: -7 / -9 dB
Rule: lower it with high distortions to avoid slurry
HiCut (Hz)
Cuts high frequencies
Orange = soft highs → it's no use cut too much
Realistic range:
- 5 kHz → 8 kHz
Examples:
- Rock: 6–6.5 kHz
- Stoner: 5.5–6 kHz
- Metal: 6.5–7.5 kHz
Rule: too high = fake sound too low = you lose attack
LoCut (Hz)
Cuts low frequencies
4x12 closed = strong but controlled bass
Realistic range:
- 80Hz → 130Hz
Examples:
- Rock: 100 Hz
- Stoner: 90–100 Hz
- Metal: 110–130 Hz
Rule: more gain → more LoCut
Mix (%)
Blend IR / dry
Standard:
- 100%
Creative:
- 80–90% for ambient
Pro Tips
Great starting point:
- Gain: -6 dB
- HiCut: 6.5 kHz
- LoCut: 100–110 Hz
- Mixes: 100%
If the sound is:
- too “muddy” → raise LoCut
- too “dark” → turn up HiCut
- too compressed → lower Gain
- not very present → raise HiCut slightly
Tangerine412 is perfect:
with Orange / British amp for heavy riffs live (cuts well in the mix) in combination with IR open back
