DYN 421

Inspired by Sennheiser® MD421

The DYN 421 is inspired by the famous Sennheiser MD421, one of the most used microphones for:

  • Electric guitar
  • Cabinet
  • Toms and instruments with important lows

Main features:

  • Sound full, full-bodied and powerful
  • Solid and defined lows
  • Natural averages
  • Soft but present tops

It is the dynamic microphone with the most “weight” in the HeadRush library

Frequencies

  • Low → deep, punchy and controlled
  • Medium → natural and open
  • High → soft but defined

More “big sound” than Dyn57

Attack / dynamics

  • Less aggressive attack than Dyn57
  • Rounder and “wider”
  • Great for full riffs and full-bodied leads

Natural compression

  • Light
  • More “amp in room” feeling
  • Less sharp and more three-dimensional sound

BEHAVIOR IN THE MIX

  • It fills up a lot of space
  • Big, full sound
  • It may be less incisive than the Dyn57
