Inspired by Mesa Boogie® 4x12 Angled (Top-Left Speaker)
4x12" Speaker
4x12 angled TL = “Tight Low / Tight Lead” (modern voicing) compared to BR:
- more controlled low-end
- less British “wood”.
- more modern / scooped / defined
- in practice it is the most modern metal / high gain oriented Flathill

- ↑ more output
- ↓ more headroom
Mic Dist (inch)
Microphone distance.
- 0–1” → ultra tight (djent / metal)
- 1–3” → balanced
- >4” → more air
- DIFFERENCE -> this cab handles short distances well without becoming harsh
Mic Axis (On/Off)
- Hon → very defined, attack
- OFF → smoother
- here -> ON is more usable than BR less risk of harshness
Low (dB)
- negative → super tight
- positive → more punch
- already checked -> often it is not necessary to cut much
High (dB)
- negative → less fizz
- positive → more clarity
- here -> you can also boost slightly without problems
Delay (ms)
Signal delay.
- 0 ms → direct
- 1–5 ms → depth
- 5 ms → phase effect
- useful for -> simulating modern double mic
Ambience (Y/N)
- OFF → close mic
- ON → simulated environment
Amb Level (dB)
Room volume.
- low → study
- high → live feel
Amb Size (ms)
Room size.
- 20–40 → tight room
- 40–80 → study
- 80–120 → large space
like the other Flathills: synthetic (not real) environment
Suggested Microphones
- SM57 → precise attack, less harsh than on BR
- MD421 (variations) → adds body without kneading
- SM7 (variants) → modern leads, smooth
- Rezio → perfect for modern metal (very balanced)
this cab: enhances transients maintains clarity even with high gain
here: less “muddy” than the BR, excellent for balancing digital sounds
DIFFERENCE: here they work well even on distortions because the cab is more controlled
