Flathill V Mark 112 Combo
Inspired by Mesa Boogie® V Mark 1x12 (Combo)
1x12" Speaker
1x12 combo closed/partially closed style Mesa/Boogie Mark series
characteristics:
- very focused midrange
- more controlled bass than open-back
- answer tight but not “4x12”
- Very articulated on single notes
- translated perfect for leads, fusion, prog, “articulated” (non-extreme) metal
Controls
Gain (dB)
Mic volume
- ↑ more output
- ↓ more headroom
Mic Dist (inch)
CRITICAL PARAMETER here
- 0–1” → very focused
- 1–3” → balance
- >3” → more natural
- DIFFERENCE -> This cab improves slightly further away but loses body too far away
Mic Axis (On/Off)
- Hon → attack, presence
- OFF → softer
- here -> ON very useful for rhythms OFF ideal for leads
Low (dB)
- negative → tight
- positive → more body
- this cab: doesn't have much low-end → you can also boost slightly
High (dB)
- negative → less harsh
- positive → more definition
- often -> slight boost works well
Delay (ms)
Signal delay.
- 0 ms → direct
- 1–5 ms → depth
- 5 ms → phase
- useful for -> simulating larger cab
Ambience (Y/N)
- OFF → close mic
- ON → simulated environment
Amb Level (dB)
- low → natural
- high → ambient
Amb Size (ms)
- 20–40 → small room
- 40–80 → study
- 80–120 → large
HERE is very important: it helps to “enlarge” the cab
Suggested Microphones
This cab is:
- smaller (1x12)
- more focused
- less “natural air”
- SM57 → attack and presence
- MD421 (all) → more body
- SM7 (variants) → lead smooth
- Rezio → very modern
BEST MATCH:
here: they add depth they compensate for the “smallness” of the cab
they work, but can overemphasize averages
Use: only with greater distance
