ReValver Cabinets
Hangar18 Drive 410 (BR)
Inspired by Hartke® 4x10 (Bottom-Right Speaker)
4x10" Speaker
4x10 cabinet (British voicing) compared to TL:
- more pronounced midrange
- less “surgical tight”
- more rough / organic
- less modern, more rock
- translated it's a 4x10 less hi-fi, more “true amp”, dirtier (in a good way)
Controls
Gain (dB)
Mic volume
- ↑ more output
- ↓ more headroom
Mic Dist (inch)
VERY IMPORTANT
- 0–1” → very mid-forward
- 1–3” → balance
- >3” → more natural
- DIFFERENCE vs TL -> here moving away is often better, it reduces nasality
Mic Axis (On/Off)
- Hon → very mid/aggressive
- OFF → more natural
- on this cab -> OFF almost always better ON only for very loud sounds
Low (dB)
- negative → tight
- positive → more body
- this cab: not huge bass → you can boost slightly
High (dB)
- negative → less harsh
- positive → more presence
- useful -> often a small cut is needed (-1 / -2 dB)
Delay (ms)
Signal delay.
- 0 ms → direct
- 1–5 ms → depth
- 5 ms → phase
- useful for -> simulating larger cabs (4x12 type)
Ambience (Y/N)
- OFF → close mic
- ON → simulated environment
Amb Level (dB)
- low → natural
- high → ambient
Amb Size (ms)
- 20–40 → small room
- 40–80 → study
- 80–120 → large
here: very useful for “widening” the sound
Suggested Microphones
This cab is:
- fast (4x10)
- but with mid British
so it can get nasal if you get the mic wrong
- SM57 → classic British
- MD421 (variants) → more body
- SM7 (variants) → smoother
- Rezio → more modern, less vintage
BEST MATCH:
here they reduce the nasality and make the sound bigger
Often best choice on this cab
here they can emphasize the mids and use them with greater distance
