Hangar18 Drive 410 (TL)
Inspired by Hartke® 4x10 (Top-Left Speaker)
4x10" Speaker
4x10 closed/semi-tight cabinet (modern TL voicing) inspiration:
- typical format 4x10 (faster than 4x12)
- answer faster, less “woof”
- low-end very controlled
- defined mids but less “boxy”
- in practice it's a cab more reactive, more tight, more “percussive”
Controls
Gain (dB)
Mic volume
- ↑ more output
- ↓ more headroom
Mic Dist (inch)
VERY IMPORTANT here
- 0–1” → super percussive
- 1–3” → balanced
- >3” → more natural
- DIFFERENCE -> this cab handles short distances well and maintains definition
Mic Axis (On/Off)
- Hon → maximum attack
- OFF → smoother
- here -> ON = very useful for modern metal OFF = more musical
Low (dB)
- negative → ultra tight
- positive → more body
- this cab -> bass already controlled you can also boost slightly
High (dB)
- negative → less bright
- positive → more definition
- here -> you can often boost without harshness
Delay (ms)
Signal delay.
- 0 ms → direct
- 1–5 ms → depth
- 5 ms → phase
- useful for -> simulating larger cabs (4x12 type)
Ambience (Y/N)
- OFF → close mic
- ON → simulated environment
Amb Level (dB)
- low → natural
- high → ambient
Amb Size (ms)
- 20–40 → tight room
- 40–80 → study
- 80–120 → large
here: very useful for giving depth, it compensates for the “speed” of the cab
Suggested Microphones
This cab is:
- fast
- brilliant controlled
- very defined in transients
- SM57 → attack, punch
- MD421 (all) → more body
- SM7 (variants) → lead smooth
- Rezio → very modern, super defined
BEST MATCH:
here they add depth making it less "dry"
Useful because the cab can be too direct
very detailed here can make the sound too “clinical”
Usage: Longer distance off-axis
