ReValver Cabinets
Jarnmalm 412 (BR)
Inspired by Revalver® Custom 4x12 (Bottom-Right Speaker)
4x12" Speaker
4x12 European cabinet with British (BR) voicing therefore:
- “modern” structure (Engl/Bogner type)
- but with midrange British (Marshall-like)
- SOUND CHARACTER
- mids more present than BL
- less scooped
- more organic / rock
- less “clinical” than BL
- basically halfway between Flathill BR and Jarnmalm BL
Controls
Gain (dB)
Mic volume
- ↑ more output
- ↓ more headroom
Mic Dist (inch)
VERY IMPORTANT PARAMETER
- 0–1” → very mid-forward
- 1–3” → balance
- >3” → more natural
- here -> distance helps a lot, reduces “nasality”
Mic Axis (On/Off)
- Hon → attack + mids
- OFF → smoother
- on this cab -> OFF often better ON for aggressive rhythms
Low (dB)
- negative → tight
- positive → more body
- this cab -> already balanced small boosts work
High (dB)
- negative → less harsh
- positive → more presence
- thick -> slight cut (-1 / -2 dB)
Delay (ms)
Signal delay.
- 0 ms → direct
- 1–5 ms → depth
- 5 ms → phase
- useful for -> simulating double mic
Ambience (Y/N)
- OFF → close mic
- ON → simulated environment
Amb Level (dB)
- low → natural
- high → ambient
Amb Size (ms)
- 20–40 → small room
- 40–80 → study
- 80–120 → large
here: helps make the cab less “boxy”
Suggested Microphones
This cab is:
- warmer than BL
- less hi-fi
- more “real amp”
- SM57 → classic British
- MD421 (all) → more body
- SM7 (variants) → lead smooth
- Rezio → more modern
BEST MATCH:
here they smooth out the mids making the sound bigger.
Often the best choice for recording
They work well here but pay attention to the mids
Usage: Longer distance off-axis
