Flathill Texas 212 Combo
Inspired by Mesa Boogie® Texas 2x12 (Combo)
2x12" Speaker
2x12 open-back combo (Texas/Fender-like voicing) main features:
- more open and airy
- less compression than 4x12
- more dynamics and touch response
- less “tight” low-end, more widespread low-end
- translated perfect for clean, edge of breakup, blues / country / funk
Controls
Gain (dB)
Mic volume
- ↑ more output
- ↓ more headroom
Mic Dist (inch)
Microphone distance.
HERE is key:
- 1–2” → still direct
- 3–5” → natural
- >5” → very airy
- DIFFERENCE vs 4x12 -> this cab improves by increasing distance more realistic
Mic Axis (On/Off)
- Hon → bright, more attack
- OFF → softer
- on this cab -> OFF often better (less harsh on Fender-style highs)
Low (dB)
- negative → less boom
- positive → more body
- attention -> open-back = bass already diffused, don't overdo it with boost
High (dB)
- negative → less bright
- positive → more air
- here -> it is often NOT necessary to boost already very open
Delay (ms)
Mic delay
- 0 ms → direct
- 1–5 ms → depth
- 5 ms → ambient effect
- useful for simulating -> real microphone distance
Ambience (Y/N)
- OFF → close mic
- ON → simulated environment
Amb Level (dB)
Room volume.
- low → natural
- high → ambient
Amb Size (ms)
Room size.
- 20–40 ms → small room
- 40–80 ms → study
- 80–120 ms → large
on this cab: it works very well, more credible than on the 4x12s
