Controls
Gain (dB)
Mic volume
- ↑ more output
- ↓ more headroom
Mic Dist (inch)
VERY IMPORTANT
- 0–1” → more definition
- 1–3” → balance
- >3” → very soft
- this cab -> improves with moderate distance too close = loses vintage magic
Mic Axis (On/Off)
- Hon → brighter
- OFF → warmer
- here -> OFF almost always better ON only if attack is needed
Low (dB)
- negative → tighter
- positive → warmer
- this cab: already soft → watch out for boost
High (dB)
- negative → very dark
- positive → more presence
- here -> a slight boost (+1) is often needed
Delay (ms)
Signal delay.
- 0 ms → direct
- 1–5 ms → depth
- 5 ms → ambient effect
- useful for -> simulating larger cab
Ambience (Y/N)
- OFF → very “closed”
- ON → opens the sound
Amb Level (dB)
- low → natural
- high → ambient
Amb Size (ms)
- 20–40 → small room
- 40–80 → study
- 80–120 → large
here: it helps a lot to give air
Suggested Microphones
This cab is:
here: perfect, they maintain the vintage character
BEST MATCH:
- R121 = classic vintage studio sound
- SM57 → more attack
- MD421 (LC1) → more body
- SM7 → lead smooth
- Rezio → less vintage
- U87
- 414
- 4047
- 4060
here they add definition and can "distort" the vintage character
Use: with greater distance
