Michael ACM800 212 Combo (R)
Inspired by Marshall® JCM800 2x12 (Combo, Right Speaker)
2x12" Speaker
same cab as (L):
- 2x12 Marshall-style
- open/semi-open
- JCM800 voicing
- BUT (R) = Right speaker / different microphone position, slightly different answer on, high, medium, focus, SOUND CHARACTER, Compared to (L), slightly more brilliant, more defined on the highs, less “full-bodied” in the low-mids, more focus on detail, in practice more suitable for, defined rhythms, mix, stereo pairing
Controls
Gain (dB)
Mic volume
- ↑ more output
- ↓ more headroom
Mic Dist (inch)
VERY IMPORTANT
- 0–1” → very bright
- 1–3” → balance
- >3” → more natural
- compared to (L) -> here it is better to stay slightly further away
Mic Axis (On/Off)
- Hon → very bright
- OFF → warmer
- here -> OFF often mandatory ON only if attack is needed
Low (dB)
- negative → tighter
- positive → more body
- here -> you can boost slightly to compensate
High (dB)
- negative → less harsh
- positive → more presence
- often -> need -1 / -3 dB
Delay (ms)
Signal delay.
- 0 ms → direct
- 1–5 ms → depth
- 5 ms → space
- useful for -> simulating dual stereo mics
Ambience (Y/N)
- OFF → close mic
- ON → simulated environment
Amb Level (dB)
- low → natural
- high → ambient
Amb Size (ms)
- 20–40 → small room
- 40–80 → study
- 80–120 → large
here: it helps a lot to make it less “sharp”
Suggested Microphones
this cab is:
- mid-forward
- but more open on the highs than (L)
- SM57 → perfect for rhythms
- MD421 (LC1) → adds body
- SM7 → lead smooth
- Rezio → modernize
BEST MATCH:
here they reduce brilliance and make the sound bigger
Often best choice for study
very detailed here with high risk too evident
Usage: OFF-axis longer distance
