1x12" Speaker

1x12 closed-back style Orange PPC112 features:

  • cabinet very dense and compressed
  • surprisingly low deep for a 1x12
  • medium thick and pronounced
  • high dark and soft
  • SOUND CHARACTER
  • Very mid-forward (but different from Marshall)
  • Very “thick”
  • not very bright
  • Very compressed and focused
  • in practice perfect for stoners, doom, heavy rock, fat leads

  • 0–1” → very closed
  • 1–2” → balance
  • >3” → more open
  • this cab -> improves with distance too close = “muddy”
Mic Axis (On/Off)
  • Hon → brighter
  • OFF → darker
  • here -> ON very useful OFF only for very dark sounds
Low (dB)
  • negative → less boom
  • positive → huge
  • this cab: already strong bass → be careful
High (dB)
  • negative → darker
  • positive → more air
  • VERY IMPORTANT -> often +2 / +4 dB
Delay (ms)
  • useful for -> giving depth simulating larger cab
Ambience (Y/N)
  • OFF → very closed
  • ON → more natural
Amb Level (dB)
  • low → natural
  • high → ambient
Amb Size (ms)
  • 20–40 → small room
  • 40–80 → study
  • 80–120 → large
